Hiking, walking and strolling

Hiking Salzburg city around the Hotel Brandstätter

Fitness and a city break are clearly not a contradiction in Salzburg. After all, lush Salzburg can not only be explored and hiked around from the Hotel Brandstätter, you also get to run and stroll too.

So anyone who is looking for that daily helping of sport, will feel spot on in the Hotel Brandstätter. Countless running routes start and end on the hotel doorstep. There are also plenty of bike routes which proceed right past the hotel. Hiking tours which offer the bonus of taking in the sights start from the hotel too. And in winter there are the cross-country trails and a work-out in the hotel’s own fitness room.

Walking, which fell out of fashion a little, is back on trend again. Right here on the outskirts and in the Mozart city itself along the Salzach, where life - in the truest sense of the meaning - is a little slower, there is space for more leisurely walking options.

Above all else, it is relaxed and meditative walking that awaits us in Salzburg. A fair bit to experience and make you feel great, lovely views around the old town area, almost forgotten nooks and little lanes, yet also splendid plazas and lush oases including Mirabell Gardens and Hellbrunn Palace.

Walking through the city has something of the meditative about it. It is a special intensity that sets in as a whole – and that does us good.

‘Only where you were walking,
you have really been.’

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
